Cheerleading

This class consists of all children starting with a warm up activity, and then moving onto one of these three areas.

Tumbling/ Stunts - In this section the children will learn how to make pyramids, various gymnastic actions such as cartwheels, forward rolls, and handstands.

Cheerleading Motions – This is where children learn various arm routines using their pom poms, making different shapes and patterns.

Cheer- Dance – This is the section where we put routines together using freestyle dance and pom poms, incorporating Stunts and Tumbling.

 

Salsa/ Latin American Ballroom

This class is just like being on Strictly Come Dancing. Children will learn the five main Latin American dancing – Samba, Rhumba, Cha cha, Salsa and Jive. We will concentrate a few weeks on each dance then come back to each dance on a rotation basis to refresh and learn new steps. The class will range from learning the technical steps, to working on group performance pieces.

 

Street/Commercial Dance

This class will consist of learning the latest moves to the latest tracks. /the class will start with a whole class warm up activity, then learning a routine as whole groups, encouraging children to put their own in. I am a firm believer in children being creative and having their say in their routines, whilst taking technical tuition from a qualified teacher.  There will also be opportunities for children to work in groups with assistants, learning new steps and sometimes choreographing short group pieces to incorporate into routines.

 

Ballet

This is the more disciplined of our classes where children will work towards exams and learn the technical steps needed. The children will learn these still in an enjoyable and creative way. When not working towards an exam, pupils will be putting performance pieces together and other parts of Ballet as a whole.

 

Tap

This again is another more disciplined class where children work towards exams and learn all the technical steps needed. Again, we endeavour to make sure the children learn these in a more creative way. When not learning the technical steps we work on performance skills within Tap and the wider knowledge needed for this class.

 

Musical Theatre

This class looks at various Drama, dance and singing activities related to Musicals. We usually choose a musical and look at the different aspects of it. When we are not doing this, we do various Drama activities, Drama games and exercises to build confidence, teamwork and other social skills.
